Meet Mat and Laura. Mat, a local footballer, who has worked in construction and alternative teaching, opened the doors to Ryrie Street Melbourne-Inspired cafe The Backyard in December '15, with partner Laura Ballantyne by his side. Laura, is a qualified nutritionist and studying Master of Dietetics.

The Backyard is a laidback, social and upbeat café. The atmosphere is refreshing and inviting, with a rustic yet vibrant décor. Featuring bright white walls, distressed timber furnishings and a statement horizontal plant wall.
